Privacy Policy

Park Pals, LLC (“Park Pals,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a premium childcare booking service that connects families visiting theme parks with vetted childcare professionals (“Park Pals”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our mobile app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This Privacy Policy supplements the privacy provisions in our Terms & Conditions. Where the two address the same subject, read them together. By using the Park Pals app or website, you agree to the practices described here.

A note about children. Park Pals is a service for parents and guardians. It is booked and used by adults. Children do not create accounts, log in, or interact with the app. We collect certain information about a child (such as first name, age, allergies, and care notes) only because a parent or guardian provides it to us so we can deliver safe care. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. See Children’s Privacy below.

1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information so we can provide childcare booking services.

Account & contact information

Your name and email address, used to create and secure your account.

A profile photo, if you choose to upload one.

Children’s information (provided by the parent or guardian)

A child’s first name, age, and gender.

Allergies and care notes you choose to share so that the assigned Park Pal can care for your child safely.

You decide what to enter. We ask only for what helps us provide safe, appropriate care.

Booking information

The park, date, time, and duration of a booking.

The childcare professional assigned to, or requested for, a booking.

Check-in and check-out records for a booking.

Payment information

Payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. Park Pals does not store your full card number. We retain a payment reference and status so we can confirm and manage your booking.

Location information

During an active booking, the app shares live location so a parent can see where their child and Park Pal are within the park. See Location Data for details and how to turn it off.

Messages & images

Messages and any photos exchanged through the in-app chat between a parent and their Park Pal. See Photos & Messages.

Device & technical information

A push-notification token, if you enable notifications, so we can alert you about your booking and messages.
Basic technical information needed to operate the app reliably and securely.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

Create and secure your account and authenticate you across the app and website.

Match families with childcare professionals and manage bookings.

Give an assigned Park Pal the information needed to care for your child safely, including allergies and care notes.

Enable live location sharing and in-app messaging during an active booking.

Process payments and manage cancellations or refunds.

Send booking confirmations, reminders, and service notifications.

Maintain the safety and security of our service and respond to emergencies.

Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use children’s information for advertising.

3. Location Data

Location sharing exists for one reason: child safety during a booking. When a booking is active and location sharing is on, the app records the assigned Park Pal’s location and, where applicable, the parent’s location, so the parent can see the child’s whereabouts within the park. We also keep a short trail of recent location points during the active booking to show the route on a map.

Location is shared only during an active booking. When a trip ends or is force-ended, active location sharing stops and the live location and trail are cleared.

The app may request background location permission so that location continues to update while the app is not in the foreground during a booking. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; doing so will limit the live-tracking feature.

We do not track your location when you do not have an active booking.

4. Photos & Messages

Profile photo. If you upload a profile photo, it is visible within the app to the people you interact with on a booking (for example, your assigned Park Pal).

Chat messages and images. Parents and their Park Pal can exchange text messages and photos through the in-app chat for a booking.

Automatic deletion of chat images. Photos sent in chat are automatically and permanently deleted approximately 30 days after they are sent. Once deleted they cannot be recovered.

5. How We Share Information

We share personal information only as described below. We do not sell personal information.

Between the family and the assigned Park Pal. To provide care, the assigned Park Pal receives the booking details and the child information you provide (such as first name, age, allergies, and care notes).

Service providers. We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf, including our cloud and database provider (Google Firebase) and our payment processor (Stripe). They are permitted to use the information only to provide services to us.

Background-check providers. We verify childcare professionals through background-check and reference processes as described in our Terms.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the safety of a child, our users, or the public, including contacting emergency services in a child-safety emergency.

Business transfers. If Park Pals is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of third-party providers to operate the service:

  1. Google Firebase
    1. Authentication, database, file storage, push notifications, and backend functions
    2. Account, booking, children’s, location, message, photo, and device data
  2. Stripe
  3. Payment processing
  4. Payment details (handled by Stripe) and a payment reference held by us

Each provider maintains its own privacy practices. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking SDKs in the app.

7. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Specific retention periods vary by data type. As described above, chat images are automatically deleted approximately 30 days after they are sent, and active-booking location data is cleared when a trip ends. You may request deletion of your account information as described in Your Privacy Rights.

8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including access controls that limit who can read booking and children’s data, and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to those who need it to provide the service.

9. Children’s Privacy
Park Pals is intended for use by adults (parents and guardians). Children do not register for or use the app. We collect information about a child only when a parent or guardian provides it to arrange and receive care, and we use that information solely to provide the service and keep the child safe.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction) without parental consent. A parent or guardian may review, update, or request deletion of the child information they have provided by contacting us at [email protected].

10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information.
Request deletion of your information (“right to be forgotten”).
Restrict or object to certain processing.
Request a portable copy of your information.
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no need to “opt out” of such sales.

Residents of the European Union and United Kingdom have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond as required by applicable law.

11. International Users
Park Pals is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or in other countries where our service providers operate, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will provide notice through the app or by email where required by law. Your continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
